Job Overview

The Bookkeeping / Accounts Assistant will support the finance team in maintaining accurate financial records, managing daily accounting tasks, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with a strong understanding of basic accounting principles and the ability to assist in financial reporting and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining accurate financial records and ensure financial statements comply with relevant regulations.

• Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

• Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate and timely processing.

• Perform daily bank reconciliations and assist in monitoring cash flow.

• Assist in processing payroll and ensuring compliance with tax laws and pension regulations.

• Support the preparation of VAT returns and ensure timely submissions to HMRC.

• Help with general ledger entries and month-end closing processes.

• Assist with budgeting and forecasting as needed.

• Help monitor financial transactions and ensure compliance with company policies.

• Provide administrative support for the finance team and assist with audits.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent).

• Experience in a bookkeeping or junior accounting role (preferred).

• Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).

• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.

• Knowledge of UK tax laws and basic financial regulations.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
