🌸 Florist Assistant Job 

Position Overview

A Florist Assistant supports the florist designer in creating and delivering floral arrangements for various occasions, including weddings, funerals, and corporate events. The role involves both creative and operational tasks to ensure the smooth running of the floral business.


Key Responsibilities

1. Flower Preparation & Arrangement

  • Condition and prepare flowers by trimming, cleaning, and hydrating.

  • Assist in designing and assembling floral arrangements, bouquets, and centerpieces.

  • Prepare floral containers, floral foam (oasis), and other materials for arrangements.

  • Ensure flowers are stored correctly to maintain freshness.

2. Customer Service & Sales Support

  • Greet customers and assist them in selecting flowers and arrangements.

  • Take orders in person, over the phone, or online.

  • Provide information on flower care and maintenance.

  • Process payments and handle cash transactions.

3. Shop Maintenance & Inventory Management

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop and work areas.

  • Restock flowers, plants, and supplies as needed.

  • Assist in receiving and unpacking flower deliveries.

  • Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering new stock.

4. Event Setup & Delivery Assistance

  • Assist in setting up floral displays at events and venues.

  • Prepare and package orders for delivery.

  • Assist with deliveries, ensuring timely and safe arrival of arrangements.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: Prior experience in a floral shop or related field is beneficial but not always required.

  • Creativity: Ability to create visually appealing floral arrangements.

  • Customer Service: Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Attention to Detail: Precision in handling delicate flowers and materials.

  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Flexibility: Willingness to work weekends and holidays, especially during peak seasons.


Typical Working Hours

  • Full-time positions often require 40 hours per week.

  • Part-time roles may involve shifts ranging from 10 to 30 hours weekly.

  • Weekend and holiday availability is frequently required.


Salary Expectations (UK)

  • Entry-Level: Approximately £12,000 per year.

  • Experienced: Up to £14–£15 per hour, depending on skills and experience.

  • Salaries can vary based on location, employer, and specific duties.
